The public seemed pretty unhappy with Brad Pitt for stating that while married to Jennifer Aniston he felt like he was living trapped on the couch with a joint, hiding out from his celebrity and searching for a great role. Then he realized that it wasn't a great role he was seeking out, it was a more meaningful life.

In the current issue of Esquire, he's basically said the same, but phrased it much more tactfully. Pitt said at that time, he was a "drifter" and was doing too many drugs. He had an "epiphany" that, essentially meant he felt like his life was frivolous and that he felt he needed to contribute more. Honestly, I believe him. Sounds like the age-old "mid-life crisis."
