The 2008 Kiwanis Butterfly Festival will be held beneath the pavilion in the Southlake Town Square September 4th through the 7th.  Attendees will have the opportunity to explore a 600 square foot landscaped mesh tent populated with hundreds of Texas butterflies.  Butterfly experts will host educational seminars detailing the lifecycles of the different butterflies.  At the conclusion of the event on Sunday the 7th the butterflies will be released directly from the pavilion.  This event will raise funds for local children's charities, including the Children's Miracle Network.

8th Annual Champions of Literacy Luncheon

During National Literacy Month, on September 18, 2008, Literacy Instruction for Texas (LIFT) will host the 8th Annual Champions of Literacy Luncheon at the beautifully redecorated Scottish Rite Library and Museum, built in downtown Dallas in 1911.   All proceeds from the event benefit LIFT Adult and Family Literacy programs in Dallas, Tarrant and Collin Counties.  Keynote speaker is former educator and author of The Teacher Who Couldn’t Read and The Bridge to Literacy, No Child – or Adult Left Behind, John Corcoran.

The ClubCorp Charity Classic is the world's largest one-day golf and dining event and will take place this year on September 26th.
