When I first heard STP had fired Scott Weiland I thought it was a publicity stunt because STP was originally his band...but now it seems legit since they just announced that Chester Bennington of Linkin Park is their new lead singer. His vocals on this new song remind me of Perry Farrell from Janes Addiction

In a statement posted on their website, Stone Temple Pilots said Bennington was “at the top of the list” when it came time to find a singer for the new music they’ve been working on. “Chester has a one-of-a-kind voice that we’ve admired for a long time,” said Dean DeLeo. “We know Linkin Park will always be his priority, but we thought it would be cool to try something together. We managed to find the time to record a song and we’re all really happy with the result.”

Their first song together is called Out Of Time. Thoughts?

I went home to Guam last month and had the opportunity to visit the War Dog Memorial. The S Tell Newman Center devotes an entire section of their museum to the dogs of war. If you would like to know more there are hundreds of books about the canines who have served. My favorite one is called Always Faithful

If you are going PLEASE wear crazy goggles or 3D glasses and a pan or a colander on your head not because they are so great for deflecting projectile tomatoes but because the pictures turn out so awesome. Snorkels are good too and also bonus points to anyone who dresses up as a weenie or salmon or sea monster.

I have read about tornadoes for years but it still boggles my mind what they are, where they come from and where they end up. The last part of this video is surreal. It is as if it evolves from horrifying storm to ratty gray sweater dangling in the void and just within reach

SQUEE my copy of Tales Of The San Francisco Cacophony Society came and it is huge...like 4 times the size of a jar of Nutella. It is glorious. I fell in love with the one eyed monkey in a fez and am swooning over the Salmon Run where members of the society literally dress up like full on SALMON find the nearest foot race and then proceed to run against the flow of runners.
