Depeche Mode will return with a new album in spring 2013, the band revealed on today.

The group, which will hold a press conference in Paris on Tuesday, will also hit the round in May, kicking off three months of European dates.

A tour of North America will follow.

Dave Gahan told Billboard in May that the band had an abundance of songs.

"Martin's been very prolific, written some great songs," he said, in addition to Gahan's own contributions. "I'm excited about where this one's going; I think it's going to be a more direct record, a punchier record," he said at the time. That's all I can say at this point; with Depeche Mode, anything can change through the course of making a record."

The band's last album, 2009's "Sounds of the Universe," (featuring Wrong ^) peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200. The new set will be Depeche Mode's 13th studio album.
